The first part of the holiday weekend will include Mt. Rainier. The plan is to head to Cougar Rock campground (which is the road to Paradise), set up camp, and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon/evening on either Saturday or Sunday. The next morning we'll leave camp no later than 6:30, go to Paradise and check-in with the Rangers office to see what the weather looks like further up the mountain. Then head up to Camp Muir.
I have been up to Camp Muir numerous times; its a great hike. Its roughly a 5000 elevation gain and it should take us somewhere between 4-5 hours to reach Camp Muir. The trip back down the hill is normally faster as we will have a chance to glissade or butt-slide down various portions. Right now, we're planning to take our snowboards with us... with will definitely make the trip home faster. :)
